White tarps are the most durable tarps, as they are made from heavy duty polyethylene with a 14 by 14 dernier count and 12 mil thickness. In addition to durability, a white poly tarp is treated to be waterproof, UV and rot resistant and the polyethylene material still allows air to circulate in the tarp to prevent moisture from building up and causing mildew, mold, and dry rot on the protected materials. Additional treatments to a white poly tarp can make it fire retardant which becomes particularly important during winter on a construction site. These properties make a white tarp ideal as a poly tarp cover for any number of equipment, buildings, and materials. In addition, keeping heat inside the work area is crucial, and a fire retardant tarp can be used for its containment properties to keep the heat inside. All fire retardant white tarps we carry pass the California State Fire Marshall certification and won't burn from excessive heat.

White tarps can also be used as truck tarps for materials that need protection from water on a construction site. Materials like sand and gravel can be protected with a mesh tarp, but other construction materials like wood and asphalt need to be kept dry. White poly tarps are typically used as flatbed lumber tarps in this instance, or they can be dump truck tarps for asphalt.
