Silver tarps are ubiquitous and multipurpose tarps, and one of the uses for a silver poly tarp includes use on a construction site. A silver poly tarp has multiple uses on a construction site, including being a tarp cover for any number of materials and machinery, a truck tarp, and a fire retardant tarp during winter.
Silver poly tarps are the most durable tarps to use as a tarp cover. Each silver tarp is a heavy duty polyethylene tarp with a 14 by 14 dernier count and 12 mil thickness. In addition to this durability, a silver poly tarp is treated to be waterproof, UV and rot resistant and the material allows air to circulate in the tarp to prevent moisture from building up. These properties make a silver tarp ideal as a poly tarp cover for any number of equipment and materials. Additional treatments to a silver poly tarp can make it fire retardant which, on a construction site, becomes particularly important during winter. As workers will need to work on a building outside, keeping heat inside the work area is crucial, and a fire retardant tarp can be used for its containment properties to keep the heat in. In addition to keeping the heat inside the tarp's enclosed area from forced air heaters, these fire retardant tarps pass the California State Fire Marshall certification and won't burn or catch on fire from excess heat.
Silver tarps can also be used as truck tarps on a construction site for materials that need protection from water. While materials like sand and gravel can be protected with a mesh tarp, materials like wood and asphalt need to be kept dry. Silver tarps are typically used as flatbed lumber tarps in this instance, or they can be dump truck tarps for asphalt.
