Truck tarps come in two types – one type to protect a load transported by a large dump or lumber truck and the other to protect a pickup truck when not in use. Much like a boat tarp, a pickup truck tarp is designed to fit a pickup truck and protect it all season. Instead of letting leaves and water accumulate in the back and the finish of the truck fading due to UV exposure, a pickup truck tarp will fit the vehicle to protect it from the elements.

Pickup truck tarps are additionally waterproofed with SFS Aqua-Shed, a waterproof coating on the tarp that allows the water to roll off the tarp. Other aspects unique to a pickup truck tarp include strap and buckle attachments and reinforced, elastic corners to help the tarp stay in place for several months. The fabric of a pickup truck tarp is polyethylene, and these tarps have all the same properties as those for an ordinary heavy duty poly tarp, including rot and UV resistance and resistance to tears and snags in the fabric.
