Tarps are one supply used in case of a hurricane especially as a roof tarp. Blue plastic tarps are typically used as roof tarps. But, in case of a hurricane, a blue tarp isn't the only material you'll need for protection. To have a full hurricane supply kit, we have all materials you will need in case of damages from a hurricane. For a hurricane supply checklist, our materials include everything from tarps to raingear to head protection and traffic cones.

Blue plastic tarps can be used on a roof that has experienced damage from a hurricane. A blue tarp of any size can be used as a roof tarp to keep moisture from coming in your house and causing water damage, mold, and mildew. To apply a roof tarp, the tarp needs to be wrapped around two-by-four boards on both ends and nailed down. Although a blue tarp is ideal as a roof tarp, roof tarps themselves aren't permanent; they're a temporary solution to prevent water damage. A blue roof tarp can last up to 90 days as temporary protection, and after that point, a contractor should be contacted to assess the roof damage.

Housing repairs aside, a hurricane can cause more than just roof damage, and a hurricane supply list should include other household items in case of a hurricane. Other supplies for a hurricane that are necessary to keep at home include raingear and first aid kits. Even for a minor hurricane, a general hurricane supply list should include both of these items. First aid kits can come in sizes for a full family and a business with all basic first aid supplies. In case of more serious injuries due to a hurricane, other first aid kits we carry include rescue breather kits and biohazard disposal kits. In addition, raingear, including raincoats, rain boots, and rain hats, is needed for all types of hurricanes.

Other supplies needed for a hurricane survival kit include items beyond the individual and home levels. As hurricanes have been known to cause severe damage, some industrial safety supplies are necessary after a hurricane, including yellow caution tape, cones, safety gloves, and safety vests, to help warn people of surrounding dangers. Other hurricane supplies include shovels to help dig through rubble caused by a hurricane.
