An RV is a seasonal vehicle that needs to be in storage for part of the year. However, when an RV is left in the sun and exposed to the elements for the winter or a period of several months, the vehicle can experience significant damage. In order to prevent that damage, a canopy can be used to cover this RV for several months, and the best outdoor canopies to cover your RV are dome or rounded canopies and long canopy structures with a peaked roof. If the RV is the only vehicle being covered by the canopy, the canopy should be slightly larger than the RV.
Exposure to UV rays for prolonged periods can cause paint to fade and plastic to crack and with an RV, both of these aspects are particularly important, as even plastic parts inside of an RV – such as a shower or other furniture – can crack when an RV isn't covered by a canopy. The solution to protect your RV from UV exposure and use it for many summers after is to cover it with a UV treated canopy. These UV treated canopies are composed of a rounded frame covered in a UV-treated polyethylene canopy on all sides and a roll-up door in the front. Although the RV is essentially being stored by the canopy for an entire season, a roll-up door will allow you easy access to the RV while in storage.
However, an RV, much like a boat, needs protection from moisture building up on its surface and causing dry rot, mildew, and mold. A canopy to cover your RV will allow for air circulation and won't trap moisture under the canopy structure. As with any vehicle, mold and mildew can damage the surface of the RV and to keep the paint fresh and the surface in one piece, an RV canopy will protect the vehicle with a breathable cover that allows for long-term air circulation.
